I have often wondered this myself. I think it is hard to measure, which is why studies are not done. How does one know where they “should” be functioning? Most people who are obsessive in an area sacrifice some basic functioning skills in their pursuit. Gamblers do not get “less intelligent” but their functional living skills are definitely affected by their addiction.
